KSR Burns – The Paris Effect

Blurb: Nothing is what it seems in this highly praised debut novel about a food-obsessed young woman who sneaks away to Paris without telling anyone. Not even her husband. Once there she’s robbed, stalked, arrested, kidnapped (almost) and–worse–finds that her numerous issues have come right along with her. Grab a croissant and settle in for a decidedly non-touristy trip to the City of Light.

This novel makes for great book club discussions. A sequel is in the works.

Review: Loved this book! Who hasn’t felt a little lost in life and unsure of what they want sometimes? Amy finally decides to follow The Plan that she and Kat talked about for years, the plan to visit Paris. Written in so much detail, you really get a feel for Paris. Toward the end of the book, I was on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen in respect of Margaret and William. I was gripping and the end was a nice surprise – completely unpredictable! Amy was so realistic and likeable. The book also comes complete with Amy’s strict, but humorous diet rules. If you fancy an entertaining read of soul-searching and adventure, with a dash of humor thrown in, this book is for you!
